Pottery Classes & Workshops

Our Intro to pottery class that teaches you the basics of using the pottery wheel with no expectations!  If you happen to make something you wish to keep, for a small fee we will trim, fire, glaze and re-fire your piece for you

Try your hand at building your very own pottery mug!  We use slab building techniques to create your personalized mug!

These 3 hour workshops teach specific skills to improve your making.     We will be offering this workshop monthly with a different focus each month.

If you are a potter who hasn't taken classes with us at South Side Arts, we require you to attend a studio orientation to familiarize yourself with the studio and our procedures before joining as a member or attending open studio times.

Welcome to South Side Arts.  If you are not a member but have experience with pottery, we offer 2 hour blocks of studio time during our Open Studio on Sundays.  To sign up, you will have needed to either take one of our 6 week courses.  Otherwise, if you have taken training elsewhere you will need to attend a studio orientation first.

Our 6 week Intro to Wheel class takes you from the very beginning all the way through the process of creating functional pottery.  Each week we build upon what we learned the previous week.   If you've ever been interested in pottery, this is the perfect way to jumpo right in!

This course picks up where you left off in your beginner class.  Learen to throw with more confidence by challenging yourself to throw larger, more complex forms.  This 5 week class will really be the icing on the cake for your wheel throwing!

For potters who have been working at their practice and need more.   This course will push you  to explore new heights!  We will look at lidded jars, bottles, as well as larger and more complex pots.  Your pottery game will soar to new levels after taking this course!

for ages 10-18 our After school clay club is a fun class where we explore several different methods of making pottery.  We take on projects that are fun and creative with different projects all the time!  Each month we run a 4 week series.  Spaces are limited so reserve your spot!

This 5 week course focuses on making pottery without the pottery wheel.  We discover pinch pots, slab building and coil building to create interesting and creative forms.  We will also look at surface texture and design in this course.
