6 week Intro to Wheel throwing
Our 6 week series is the perfect place to begin your pottery journey. We will lake you from clay preparation all the way to glazing.
Week 1 we learn to center clay and make our first form..Bowls!
Week 2 we return and learn to trim our bowls from week 1, apply surface textures and learn to use coloured slips.
Week 3 we are back on the wheel throwing mugs
Week 4 - we trim our mugs, add texture and learn to pull and attach handles to our mugs.
Week 5 - We make side plates and dinner plates
Week 6 we come back and find all of our items fired in our kiln and today is fully focused on glazing our work.
After completing Week 2, you are able to sign up for membership at the studio.
Workshops
Studio Orientation:
This is a free class for people who have previous pottery experience and would like to join our membership. We take you around and show you all the things you need to know so you can work without supervision in the studio.
90 Minute Refresh - $45
This class in for someone who took some pottery in the past and just need a qiuck refresh rather than a whole course.
Boot Camp $365
The alternative to the full 6 weeks. This workshop runs 2 full days, over consecutive weekends.
Day 1 - Learn to wedge clay, center, and throw your first forms.
Day 2, - We trim all of the work from the previous day, learn about texture for surfaces, make and attach handles, and prepare all of our work for its first firing.
We can either take care of the glazing for you, or you can come in after and glaze yourself.
Chip & Dip Plate - $95
this 3 hour workshop will build a large chip bowl and also throw a smaller dip bowl on the wheel. We will attach our bowls together and then you can select the glazing you want us to put on. next class: June 1 3pm
Mug making workshop $65
Wouldn't you just love to sip your morning brew from your very own hand made mug? June 15 3-5pm
Paint Your Own
Paint Your Own Pottery is a great way to create your own artistic masterpiece without having to learn how to make it! We have a wide selection of pre-made pieces that you can choose from. Then take your selection of coloured glazes and create your one of a kind treasure! Once you finish, we will fire it in our kiln and it will be ready for you in about 2 weeks.

Paint your own Pottery
Want to decorate a pottery piece without making it?
We have a wide variety of ready-made pieces. From mugs, plates and bowls to fugirines, toys, banks, and ornaments for all occasions!
Come in and select the item you want to turn into your own masterpiece, select your colours and we will provide an artists pallette with your selections so you can add your personal touches to your piece.
Once you are done, we will dip your piece in clear glaze and fire it in our kiln. We will let you know when you can pick up your finished piece of art (usually withiin a week)

We welconme teachers of many different art streams to our studio. With our large, bright open studio space , we are set up for a variety of art offerings. If you are a teacher looking for a space to host your art classes, or if you are a student wishing to join, South Side Arts is your new home!
Membership options
Memberships for potters and other artists
For Potters
- Our 12 hour per month membership is a great way to be a part of a creative community and you get to spend up to 12 hours each month playing with clay, all the tools and equipment are available to you during your studio time.
- Our unliimited membership allows you to come and go as much as you like each month, our studio is yours! This is not intended for production potters as kiln space will be shared evenly.
Other Artists
- We offer an unlimited membership for all non-pottery artists. This allows you to use the studio space to create your art whenever the creative inspiration strikes.
